Right On Track

This afternoon, Olivia had her 9-month check-up. I can't fathom the fact that she will be 9 months tomorrow! She was a pro at the doctor's office! She showed off her crawling skills while the nurses took her measurements, trying actively to escape from the scale with her bare butt up in the air. While they laughed at Olivia's antics, I'm not quite sure they appreciated it since it made their job difficult in getting her height. Olivia weighed in at 17 lbs. 11 oz. (30th percentile), measured 27 inches tall (33rd percentile), and had a head circumference of 43.7 cm (43rd percentile).

While waiting for the doctor, she stood excitedly on the exam table and let out a loud Olivia shout! The doctor said she is not tiny, but just smaller than average. She continues to be right on track with her growth curve! We think she is a perfect petite girl! During the exam, she sat very nicely on the table, allowing the doctor to check her ears, eyes, mouth, heart and lungs. She then showed the doctor how active she is and how she has "found her voice" by letting out a couple shrill shouts. One exciting milestone is that she has now graduated to meats and table foods; I'm sure this news will please her Grandma & Grandpa Ackerman as they have been trying to feed (sneak) her table foods now for months! She received only one shot (last of her Hep B series) in her upper left thigh, which caused a delayed cry lasting a few seconds.

Tonight, Olivia had Rice Krispies along with parsnips for dinner. She also tried a small piece of colby jack cheese, at which she made a face of disgust, coughed and spit back out! I told her she would be a skinny child if she doesn't like cheese. Now she is having diaper time with Daddy and playing in the front window. She is such an enjoyment!

She goes up...she goes down. Here's Olivia letting herself down from standing.

And she's up AGAIN! She loves to stand at the coffee table! It's the perfect height for her.

Always moving...I was attempting to get a picture of her sitting on the chair, but she had other plans.

Olivia's pediatrician told us to try to avoid saying "no" as it will quickly become a game for a 9-month old, which we probably won't win. Instead, ignoring behaviors and distraction are better plans for dealing with her at this age. So, here is a picture of Olivia with the t.v. remote. Yesterday this would have elicited a "no," and I would have pulled it away, but today...

Inspecting a string on the sofa...she finds EVERYTHING!

Olivia already has one tooth which has popped up on her front, lower right gum. We suspect she has another one coming out in the back since she constantly has her fingers in her mouth. The doctor said there was another tooth, but we have yet to see it.

This is the first picture I took from the outside with Olivia in her favorite spot. Daddy had just pulled in the driveway, and Olivia was banging on the window with excitement when she saw him. She also attracted the attention of a couple walking down the sidewalk in front of our house.

Such a serious inspector of the neighborhood!

Snap! Crackle! Pop! Rice Krispies are good!!!

Peek-a-boo from Olivia's favorite spot...the front windows, hiding behind the curtains!

"Where's Olivia??? There she is!!!"

My two loves!

"I found you, Mommy!"

My sweet girl with her precious smile!

Playtime before heading to bed.
